Holistic Care of Children in ELC

Training Aim

The module aims to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and competence to support the health, care, wellbeing, and safety for all children within their service.  Learners will consider the holistic wellbeing of children in the ELC environment and their role in promoting this, led by regulation, frameworks, and guidelines.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Apply the relevant national and practice-based legislation, regulation, frameworks, policies, and procedures which impact the holistic care and safety of children in the ELC setting.
  2. Understand the significant role of the adult, environment, and other stakeholders in ensuring the health, care, wellbeing, and safety of children in the ELC setting.
  3. Recognise the importance of collaborative practice in ensuring the health, care, and wellbeing of each child.
  4. Recognise the importance of collaborative practice in ensuring the health, care, and wellbeing of each child.
  5. Demonstrate a knowledge of the nutritional requirements of children in order to support health and wellbeing.

Assessment Method

  • Assignment – 30%
  • Portfolio – 70%
