Effective Leadership within ELC

Training Aim

The purpose of this module is to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and competence to effectively lead teams within an Early Learning and Care context. The module will provide learners with a framework for the identification and development of key leadership skills and competencies.  On completion of this module learners will also be able to recognise the key stakeholder groups within their organisational setting and develop leadership strategies to communicate and manage professional relationships. Learners will reflect on and evaluate their own leadership skills, styles and effectiveness and engage with Personal Development Planning to improve own effectiveness.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand Leadership concepts, principles and practices and their application in the effective supervision of people to include leading, planning, monitoring, and review.
  2. Critically reflect on their own effectiveness as a supervisor/ leader and demonstrate the ability to lead others in both group and individual reflection to create effective performance plans.
  3. Demonstrate competence in the use of appropriate involvement and communication strategies with a range of key stakeholders, contributing to professional support and supporting others.
  4. Evaluate and apply conflict management strategies as appropriate to key stakeholder groups in an ELC setting.

  • Assignment – 40%
